Not all material found by Google Scholar has been published in academic sources or is considered scholarly.
Searches conducted from this page will automatically display links to articles available through the Hartness Library. When searching from http://scholar.google.com, links to Hartness Library content will only automatically display if you are at a a Vermont Tech or CCV location. To display these links off-campus, you will need to edit the Google Scholar settings.
Go to Google Scholar and click on the menu icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Click on the gear icon to access the Google Scholar settings.
Locate the option for Library Links and then enter Hartness as your library. Then select Hartness Library CCV/VTC – Full-Text @ Hartness as one of your libraries.
Save your preferences. Return to the Google Scholar homepage to begin searching.
In your results, use the menu options to rank results by date (if needed); click the Full-Text @ Hartness links when they appear to retrieve materials from the library’s databases.
If you are logged into your own Google account, and your Internet browser is set to save cookies, you may only have to go through this process once.
Google Scholar can also be used to help you identify bibliographic information and get pre-formatted citations. Google Scholar’s citation tool will not automatically include the library database information so that may need to be added manually if you have located the source using the Full-Text @ Hartness link.
For example, in MLA format, you need to add the name of the library database (ScienceDirect, EBSCOhost, Opposing Viewpoints) after the page numbers.
