The Hartness Library serves both the Community College of Vermont and Vermont Tech academic communities. Currently enrolled students and employed staff at either institution can borrow materials from Hartness Library collections in Randolph Center or Williston; alternatively, they have materials delivered to a satellite Vermont Tech campus, CCV Academic Center, or home address. Students, staff, and faculty can also borrow materials from other Vermont State College libraries.
After locating an item, click on the Place a Request link and submit the form to have the item mailed to you.
Log in using your Web Services ID and password and confirm your shipping address or request that the materials be sent to your local CCV academic center or Vermont Tech campus. If you receive an error message while trying to request your item, please contact the Hartness Library at 1-800-431-0025 or at email@example.com so we can update your account.
Once the item is checked out to you, it will show up on your Hartness Library account. You can also renew materials through your Hartness Library account.
The number of items you can check out at one time depends on your status:
- Hartness users may check out 20 items at a time.
- Guest users may check out 10 items at a time.
Limit for DVD is 5 at a time.
Books and DVDs from the Hartness Library take 7-14 business days to arrive. If an item isn’t available, you will be notified at your college e-mail address within 3-5 business days. As indicated in the Hartness Library Collection Development Policy, we do not purchase textbooks as part of the collection. The Library is unable to fill requests to borrow textbooks through ILL, since many academic libraries hold the same policy. Go to the CCV Textbook page or Vermont Tech Bookstore for more information on purchasing textbooks.
If you live near a VSC library, you can visit that library to check books out directly. Instead of a library card, use your Web Services (Moodle) ID number. You may also need to provide a CCV student ID card or a photo ID, such as a driver’s license. There are some limitations on which materials can be checked out, so contact the Calvin Coolidge Library (CU), Samuel Read Hall Library (LSC), or Willey Library (JSC) for borrowing information. Please note: UVM is not one of the Vermont State Colleges and CCV students do not have walk-in borrowing access to UVM materials. Interlibrary loan must be used to request materials from the UVM library system.
Please register for borrowing privileges in person at the circulation desk at the Hartness Library in Randolph. Please bring a valid Vermont government, school, or municipality-issued ID.
Services available to Guest Borrowers:
- Guest Borrowers may borrow books, videos, and other items (limit 10).
