Viewing & Using EBSCO eBooks
The EBSCO eBook Collection is our largest, general-purpose eBook database, with full-text books on a variety of different topics. Once you locate an eBook, you can use the information in the detailed record to learn more about the eBook and how it can be used.
The PDF format allows you to browse through the entire book or to navigate to specific pages within the book. The EPUB format is compatible with many eReaders and reading apps (Kindle Fire, Galaxy tablets, the EBSCO eBooks app, and the Bluefire app), but does not include page numbers.
While you cannot download the entire eBook as a PDF, most publishers will allow 30-100 pages to be downloaded per viewing. You can also check to see how many copies we have. If only one copy is owned, you may get a message that says the eBook is in use if another person is viewing the eBook at that time. To cite or link to the eBook, make sure to locate the Cite and Permalink options in the Tools menu.
You begin viewing the eBook, click on the PDF or EPUB Full-Text icon or the Table of Contents so that you can see which sections are most relevant to start with.
Once you have clicked into the eBook, you can explore it in a few different ways. If you are looking for a specific word, name, or phrase, use the Search Within tab and your terms will be highlighted throughout the text and also listed below the search box so you can jump to those sections and find them.
There are also some viewing options to enlarge the text or expand the eBook page to fill your screen. You can opt to scroll up and down through the text or use the arrows at the very bottom of the page to move forward or backward one page at a time.

Saving & Printing EBSCO eBook Chapters
Most publishers will allow 30-100 pages to be downloaded per viewing. An entire eBook cannot be downloaded as a PDF but can be downloaded in other formats to read on a Kindle or mobile device (see the instructions in the section below). Once you have found a chapter or section that you wish to save as a PDF or print, you can use the download icon that appears in the Table of Contents or use the Save Pages or Print icons that appear in the menu above the text.
You can choose to download a section or specify the page range. Make sure you have an updated version of Adobe Acrobat Reader to be able to open your saved PDF. There are additional details from EBSCO support site.

eBook Readers & Reading EBSCO eBooks Offline
While it isn’t necessary to download an entire eBook to read it, some EBSCO eBooks can be downloaded and read offline. For those titles, you will see a Download button in the top right corner of the screen when you are viewing the ebook. You can log in to EBSCO using your VSC/Canvas ID and password. This account will also allow you read eBooks on mobile devices using the free EBSCO eBooks App (iTunes or Google Play).
If you choose to download a full eBook, the checkout defaults to 28 days and is then automatically returned so that another user can view it. You can select a shorter checkout period or use the Return Item feature to check it in sooner.
You can find a full set of instructions for using eBooks on the company’s website.
