Linking to Library ResourcesSupplement your course materials with articles, eBook chapters, or videos from library databases; it can help provide textbook alternatives and demonstrate the value of the library to your students. It’s also an easy way to introduce your students to research databases in your discipline.
Add Permalinks as External URLsMost library databases generate “permalinks” or linking tools that you will need to use so students are prompted to log in with their VSC ID and password. Add those links to Canvas modules using the External URL and load in a new tab options for the best results.
Embed Resources Within CanvasContent from Films on Demand and many of the Gale databases, such as Opposing Viewpoints, can display directly within Canvas. On any page, discussion, assignment or quiz, click on the blue arrow to display more external tools from the rich text editor. Select the database you’d like to access from the drop-down menu. Search for content and select the article or video you want to embed.
