Embedded Librarian Program

The Embedded Librarian Program is designed for use in courses with a significant research component. For faculty who just want to give their students easy access to library help and materials, we encourage you to explore and promote our Hartness Library Resources page in Canvas.
After signing up for the Embedded Librarian Program, a designated class librarian will be assigned to your course. The class librarian will work with you and your students throughout the semester using a Class Librarian discussion thread. The librarian will be available for individual consults with students regarding research projects. He or she will happily collaborate with you on any project you might wish to deploy throughout the semester.
Please note: Faculty must place a new request for an Embedded Librarian prior to each new term; librarians need to be enrolled in your course, so signing up is the only way to ensure this. Don’t create a new Class Librarian discussion or carry over an old one from a previous semester.
Keep in mind that an embedded librarian is not the only way for your students to get help from a librarian. They can always Contact a Librarian via chat, text, email, and phone.
Sign up for a Spring 2020 Class Librarian
CCV Embedded Librarian Program
  CCV Class Librarians can be enrolled in your course and work with your students for just one or two projects, or for the entire semester.
Once enrolled, the librarian will add a Class Librarian module with discussion forum and instructional pages. Your assigned librarian will customize the discussion per the requirements of the curriculum and your preferences. The librarian will be available to answer student questions through the class librarian discussion. Students interact with their librarian via the library discussion, or by email.
Consider requiring a consultation with the librarian as part of the research process. This helps students become more engaged in the class librarian discussion and encourages library use. Your librarian will happily work with you to create an assignment that fits into your curriculum.    

Vermont Tech Embedded Librarian Program
A discussion is added to the class before classes start and is customized by the librarian per the requirements of the curriculum and/or faculty member’s preferences. The librarian then posts relevant instructions using Pages, and answers student questions through the discussion. Students interact with their librarian via the library discussion, or by email, throughout the semester.
