What I do at the library
I’m the Reference & Teaching Resources Librarian at CCV, and like the other librarians I help provide comprehensive library services online to students and faculty in the CCV and VTC college communities. I’ll also be coordinating the Embedded Librarian program for CCV and assisting with the college’s efforts to promote Open Educational Resources as alternatives to high-cost instructional materials.
What I’m reading/listening to/watching right now
- Reading: Shirley Jackson: A Rather Haunted Life by Ruth Franklin and Life on Mars by Tracy K. Smith
- Listening to: Scene on Radio podcasts and VPR’s Live From The Fort series
- Watching: Recorder: The Marion Stokes Project and episodes of The Twilight Zone (original series)
Favorite “hidden library gem”
I’m new to my role at the library, so I’m sure there are many hidden gems I’ve yet to discover! So far, I’ve really enjoyed exploring all the digital archives & image collections listed in the library’s guide to Open Educational Resources.
Fun fact
My favorite holiday is Halloween and I love it even more now because it’s also my dog’s birthday.
Favorite animal
I’m fascinated by Great Blue Herons – they are very impressive hunters and have a wingspan of about 6 feet!
