What I do at the libraryI handle all the book, media and article requests for Vermont Tech/CCV students, staff and faculty. I process the requests for items we own in the VSC system. And if we don’t have access to it there I look for it from other libraries, or open sources. It is fun trying to find things that have been requested that we don’t own in open sources– it’s a bit like being a detective.
What I’m reading/listening to/watching right now
Watching – I really enjoyed watching this film with its literary theme – Stranger than Fiction.
Reading – I like to read cookbooks, although it tends to make me hungry. I love Indian food and cookbooks with fun themes – Here’s one from the library collection – The art of eating through the zombie apocalypse.
Listening – The time keeper a novel.
Favorite “hidden library gem”
The audiobooks of PG Wodehouse are fun to listen to. I don’t have a long commute so don’t listen to many audiobooks, but these have fun narration that really accentuates the humorous aspects of his writing.
I rescued a Macaw that had flown into our backyard. If you ever find yourself in a position of trying to capture a parrot – bananas, a blanket, and some really heavy gloves are my recommendations.
We currently have four parakeets, and they are so much fun. They are playful, and have given me thoughts of starting a traveling budgie circus! Our current flock is all named after pirates. Budgie circus starter kit – Wait for it!
What’s the most recent book you bought for the library?
The” Vicar of Dibley,” I guess I really enjoy British writers’ sense of humor and at the end of the day – it’s great to have something funny to enjoy.
