What I do at the library
I process all order requests from our librarians for anything from books, videos, and magazines, to even media such as headphones and multi-chargers for our patrons to use within the library. Sometimes a faculty member will send a purchase request and I help connect them to their library liaison to make sure we can get all of the supportive materials possible for them. Aside from placing orders, I also process all of our bills and invoices for payment. The library has several different budgets, so keeping detailed records of how much is spent out of each budget is extremely important. Most of my work is keeping detailed records and making sure things get processed for payment so I’m also a little bit of a bookkeeper/accountant in that aspect. Another big part of my job is handling all of our print periodicals: from tracking yearly renewals, to checking issues in so they can show up on our online catalog to tracking down missing issues, it can be quite a task! Most of us wear lots of hats and work together to make sure our students, faculty, staff, and community members get the best access and services possible!
What I’m reading/listening to/watching right now
I’m reading “The Paper Magician” by Charlie N. Holmberg. I’m listening to “The New Confessions of an Economic Hit Man” by John Perkins on audiobook and Breaking Benjamin’s album “Phobia” and Starset’s “transmissions”. On TV I’m currently watching “Criminal Minds”.
Favorite “hidden library gem”
I’ve helped the library acquire a number of fantastic graphic novels such as Monstress Vols 1 & 2 and books of comics from The Oatmeal and Sarah’s Scribbles.
Fun fact
I’m a gamer nerd and I love all things D&D, World of Warcraft, Minecraft, Zelda, and so much more. I’m currently studying the architecture of Japanese castles to recreate in Minecraft!
Favorite animal
Kitties. They go well with books!
What’s the most recent book you bought for the library?
The Last of the Hill Farms: Echoes of Vermont’s Past as well as several other books written by Vermont authors.
