Using WorldCat
1. Go to the Hartness Library web site at http://hartness.vsc.edu
2. Mouse over Books & More and click
on Other catalogs.
3. Click on WorldCat at the bottom of the
list.
4. At Hartness Library locations, you’ll go right into
the database.
5. At home, enter your Maple User ID (initials, birth
month, birth day, zero).
6. Then enter your Maple password (initials, last four
digits of your social security number).
7.
Click on Login.
8. Enter your topic in the box next to
Keyword. You may also search or limit by
Author, Title, ISBN (International Standard Book Number), and/or Year.
9. Click on Search.
10. You'll see that
the results are broken down into media type at the top. Click on the media type you'd like.
11. Items in the list
that we own will say VERMONT TECH
12. Clicking on the
title of an item in the result list will bring up more information about that
item.
13. If you'd like to
borrow the item, click on Borrow this item from another library (Interlibrary
Loan) under GET THIS ITEM.
14. Fill out the
online form that appears. You may use
the same form for items that we own.
15. If you'd like to
place more limits on your search to begin with, click instead on Advanced
Search in Step #7.
16. Then you may
limit to year, language, number of libraries owning the item, media type,
several subtypes, as well as to items in your library.
17. See steps #13 and
14 if you'd like to borrow the item.
18. To print or
e-mail information about the item, click on either the Print or E-mail
icon above the information about the item.
19. To see more
results if they're available, click on the small right arrow at the bottom of the list of results
or the Next button at the top of the list.
20. If you want to
make a list of selected records, you can click in the small box to the left of
each article you'd like in the list.
Then click on Marked Records
and print or e-mail the list.
