Using
1.
Go to the Hartness Library web site at http://hartness.vsc.edu
2.
Mouse over Articles below the
name of the library and click on All
Databases in the dropdown menu.
3.
In the alphabetical guide at the top, click on the letter H, then on Health
and Wellness Resource Center and Alternative Health Module.
4.
At
Hartness Library locations, you’ll go right into the
database.
5.
At
home, enter your Maple User ID (initials, birth month, birth day,
zero).
6.
Then
enter your Maple password (initials, last four digits of your social security
number).
7.
Click
on Login.
8. Near the top of the screen you may put
search term(s) in the open box next to Search for.
9.
Below that you can limit your search to full text articles and/or
refereed (scholarly) publications by clicking in the boxes next to one or both
of these options.
10. You may also limit to particular date
ranges in the section that says Date.
11. Click on
Search.
12. When you have one article on the screen,
you can print by clicking on the Print icon on the left. Then either pull down File to
Print or click your browser's print button. Click OK when the print box comes
up.
13. To e-mail the article instead, click on
the E-mail icon on the left.
Enter the e-mail address.
Click Send.
14. Another way to search is to use the
Quick Start menu, found below the open search box and date limits. It Includes: Medical
Encyclopedia, Health Organization Directory, Health
News, Drug & Herb Finder, Medical Dictionary,
Alternative Health Encyclopedia, Health Assessment Tools,
and Links to Other Sites.
15. Select one of those by clicking on it,
and then either put a search in an open search box or review results in either
alphabetical or date order.
16. At the top left of the screen you'll
find links for Help, Search Tips, Gale Group
Databases (database selection screen), and List of Sources (contents of
the database).
