4.      At Hartness Library locations, you’ll go right into the database.

5.      At home, enter your Maple User ID (initials, birth month, birth day, zero).

6.      Then enter your Maple password (initials, last four digits of your social security number).

 7.  Skip to the section that says Additional Search Options for the most detailed searching.

 8.  You may click on Company, Industry, Articles, or Advanced Search.

 9.  For Company searching, you may search by Company Name or Ticker Symbol, Industry Code/Description, Product/Brand Name, Product/Brand Type, City, and/or State/Country.

10.  Results for Company searching will be listed in descending order from the company with the highest sales revenue to the one with the least.  Click on the name of the company for more information.

11.  For Industry searching, you may search by SIC or NAICS Code, or by Industry Description.  Click on one to view more information.

12.  Results for Industry searching will be listed as SIC Industry Codes and Descriptions.  Click on one to view more information.

13.  For Article searching, you may search in the Subject Guide, Keywords, or Text of the Article.  You may limit by Journal name or Date, and limit to Full-text articles, Peer-reviewed (scholarly) journals, Newspapers & newswires, and/or Magazines & journals.

14.  Results for Article searching will be grouped by subject heading.  Click on View below the subject heading, or on Narrow, See, or See Also for more information.

15.  Advanced Search is especially useful for finding business-related articles because you can combine terms, like "accounting" and "software."

16.  Across the top of results lists for these searches you'll find index tabs with more information: Company Profiles, News/Magazines, Histories, Investment Reports, Financial, Rankings, Suits & Claims, Products, Industry Overview, and Associations.  Not all of them will be clickable for each search.

17.  Another way to search is to use the search box to the right of Enter your search term(s) near the top of the screen using the dropdown menu.  This doesn't provide as many options.

18.  When you have one article on the screen, you may print by clicking on the Print icon on the left. Then either pull down File to Print or click your browser's print button.

19.  To e-mail the article instead, click on the E-mail icon on the left.  Enter the e-mail address.  Click Send.                                                                                                6/23/05
